Don't you hate when your buy a pair of jeans and it's only when you get home and try them on that you realize they are too long? I mean who has time to go into the fitting room just to make sure that something fits? Or am I the only one to lazy to try on clothes before buying them?
I've been needing a non-distressed pair of black jeans for a while now. I got scissor happy and ended up slicing and dicing my other three pair of black jeans. Whenever I'm out thrifting I usually can't find a pair of black jeans that I like. Which is when I head over to Forever 21. I actually like how their jeans fit my slim-thick hips and thighs and their price point is right where I want it to be.
So imagine my surprise while out thrifting, I come up on a pair of crispy black F21 jeans, in my size. Winning! Or so I thought. I should have definitely tried them on at the store. If I had, then I'd known that they were too long. Argh! My first thought was to distress them. My second thought was to take them back. I had to resort back to my first thought because I missed the 7 day return time. Ugh!! Now what?!?!
Distress it is. Just as I was prepping the pants to cut them, I had this idea... Remembering I had a container filled with all sorts of unique and odd jewelry accessories from varies thrift shops in my closet; I got all happy inside. Btw, you'd be surprised at all the cool vintage accessory items people give away.
I picked all the pieces I wanted and placed them on the pants leg before super gluing them down. Just to make sure the placement was okay. Once I was okay with the placement of each piece, I got the glue gun and went to town.
When it came time to style these pants I was leaning towards a blazer, but felt that was so expected. That's when I decided on the dress over pants trend (again, see here). To keep the look simple, this textured tangerine orange dress from H&M was perfect. Instead of heels I opted for the wedged oxfords from Shein. I really like how this look came together. And just because I can be extra at times, I carried this cigar box handbag which added a little pzazz.
